Cultural Heritage Imaging Specialist 

Description: 

Full Circle is currently accepting applications for a full-time, Digital Imaging Specialist / Culture Heritage Photographer with excellent skills in high-resolution capture systems and strong post-production skills. The candidate in this role will perform bulk image capture assignments and post-processing of image files to existing standards and ensure that digital assets are appropriately organized for delivery to clients. Stay up to date with the art & cultural heritage imaging community to learn about developments in the field. Deal with clients directly in developing protocols for project execution, problem solving , and general communication.

Duties Include:

    • Provide photographic and other digital imaging services for of a wide variety of materials from film, to photographs, art work, historical artifacts, books, manuscripts and even 3D objects
    • Evaluate the technical requirements of each project, selecting cameras, scanners, and proper accessories and supporting equipment for each assignment to produce final images that meet rigid federal and industry standards of quality. 
    • Oversee the daily operation of the capture studio & equipment. 
    • Attend conferences on behalf of Full Circle and work directly with clients, including making new ones.

Major Job Responsibilities

    • Sets up and maintains imaging workstations, including calibrating monitors
    • Follows established imaging practices, adapts precedents. 
    • Performs physical assessments, and management of client collection materials
    • Performs post-processing tasks of moderate complexity including file preparation, color correction, masking, layering, stitching, and cropping. 
    • Performs quality assurance, processing, and batch ingestion of digital files. 
    • Prepares and organizes digital files for ingest into digital repositories or delivery to other destinations utilizing file naming and tracking protocols. 
    • Keeps accurate technical and workflow documentation. 
    • Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in photography and/or equivalent experience
    • 5-10 years experience in digital photography services

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

    • Extensive knowledge of digital camera equipment, medium and large format cameras, and particularly Phase One Digital Backs, Fuji Medium format, and Digital Transitions rigs and capture systems
    • Capture One and  Capture CH experience required. 
    • Strong knowledge of studio lighting equipment and techniques. 
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Photoshop and other imaging software. 
    • Knowledge of color theory and digital imaging practice, standards, and workflows. 
    • Ability to handle art objects and fragile materials. 
    • Highly productive, self-guided and motivated and able to work in partnership in a   team and self-sufficient workflow environment. Skilled in articulating ideas, clearly communicates creative concepts and technical processes. 
    • Experience in marketing or sales related to imaging services is a plus.
